Comparison of the Inhibition Efficiency of Natural and Synthetic Phenolic Antioxidants on Cr(VI) Formation
Main Article Content
Abstract
Gallic acid, gallic acid esters with various chain lengths, tara andtara hydrolysates are compared with one commerciallysuccessful synthetic phenolic antioxidant in various protocolsfor antioxidant testing, and regarding their capability to reducethe proneness to Cr(VI) formation in leather. The results arediscussed in light of the Polar Paradox Theory and the possibleinteraction of the antioxidants with components in the leathermatrix. The aim of these investigations is an optimum preventionof Cr(VI) formation in leather.
