Abstract: Secure attachment relationships typically take 3-10 months for healthy individuals to develop. The trust involved in this type of relationship is crucial in fostering positive change in an individual as it offers a secure base for role exploration and personal development. In a residential treatment facility where students ages 12-18 often come from traumatic backgrounds and typically stay for 9-12 months, how well are they able to create secure attachment relationships with staff members? This study seeks to gain a baseline measurement of secure attachment relationships at this residential treatment facility and obtain a deeper understanding of how students perceive their relationships with staff members.
