Abstract: While medical treatment is a high priority and receives attention, equal attention should be focused on mental health disorders and treatment. The research to follow serves the purpose of identifying barriers to outpatient treatment services for individuals with mental health disorders and/or substance use disorders. Treatment is offered, policies have been modified, and the need is growing. However, how do we increase the accessibility of this treatment? Clients in need of these services have barriers and limitations that hinder their utilization. By identifying these barriers and accessibility issues, we may strengthen this system for the good of those who need it most.
