Abstract: This quasi-experimental study will seek to understand what factors contribute to families having multi-generational contact with the Child Welfare system. While not a guarantee, children that have involvement with the child welfare system are much more likely to have cases of child abuse and neglect substantiated when they have their own children. This study will attempt to determine what factors make this more likely. Data will be collected from the SACWIS database using sources including family and safety assessments, activity logs, and case plans. Finally, this study will attempt to determine if there are any services that can be provided that will lower the chances that children will grow up and have cases opened within their own families.
