Abstract

This article provides a description of a protocol for allowing students to record and submit themselves taking online assessments without being required to use or subscribe to any given piece of proprietary technology.  Furthermore, this article includes results from an empirical study comparing final letter grades between students who took assessments that were proctored by an instructor in a face-to-face setting and students who took identical assessments that were proctored by the protocol described in this article.
