Abstract

This study explores the relationship between large-size classes in beginning design and the pedagogic challenges and potential solutions associated with them. A key study construct is that the pedagogic challenges posed by large design classes cannot be addressed by conventional methods alone. Thus, design educators must begin to search for and re-search new instructional strategies for large-size classes and studios that optimize the learning environment while enhancing prospects for achieving learning outcomes.
