The purpose of this project was to further educate junior-level nursing students about ADHD in the pediatric population in order to provide better care and outcomes for these children and their families. Specific topics included the prevalence and history of ADHD, various treatment options, psychosocial effects, growth and development, and specific nursing interventions. A combination of a powerpoint presentation, poster presentation, and handouts were used to educate a Mental Health class at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. Based on the pre-test and post-test, the information provided successfully educated the class on proper nursing interventions for ADHD and overall disease process. The audience participated in both the pre-test and post-test and followed up the presentation with appropriate questions, reflections, and feedback.
