Abstract

Elementary school student parents, teachers, administrators, and the surrounding community created an urban wildlife habitat in central Phoenix. This natural environment has increased the likelihood of the students becoming environmentally responsible citizens. They are now spending time in a natural setting, interacting with adults modeling environmental stewardship and learning a specific and general knowledge of ecology. They are taking personal responsibility for creating and protecting this habitat and are having a positive impact on their environment.
