Psycological and Physiological Harmony in Child Care Center Design

Abstract

To maintain psychological and physiological harmony in child care centers, four principles are proposed: movement, comfort, competence, and control. Following this conceptualization, five requirements for the functional design of child care center classrooms are summarized: location, boundaries, work and sitting surfaces, material storage and display, and mood and personality.
