Abstract: In collaboration with teachers and Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), the Early Head Start (EHS) program serves as an early enrichment classroom for at-risk children. Speech-Language Pathologists aim to maximize language and literacy outcomes for academic success through the "influence of early stimulating environments...that could lead to better intellectual functioning later" (Sickman & Creaghead, 2006; Vernon-Feagans et al., 2003). SLPs build upon fundamental skills within the natural environment in hopes for the best academic and social success upon entering preschool, kindergarten, and beyond.
