C. J. Duncan

C. J. Duncan is director of the Computer Typesetting Research Project at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Trained as a physicist, he embarked on a career in scientific photography and in 1947 was appointed director of photography at the Medical School. In 1962, under his direction, a pilot experiment in computer typesetting was started. The large-scale project now involves the Computing Laboratory, the Physics Electronics Laboratory, and the Department of Photography. He is chairman of the Institute of Printing Ltd.'s Computer Typesetting Sub-Committee.
