Claude I. Cowan is chief engineer of the Computer Typesetting Section of Elliott-Automation Computers Ltd., England. He obtained his degree in electrical engineering and was awarded a post-graduate diploma for research in servo-mechanisms in 1955. He is mainly concerned with research and development of analog and digital computers and associated systems. He spent a year in the electronics department of the Weizmann Institute, Rehovoth, Israel. His present interests involve the development of computer typesetting systems and their application throughout printing.
