Type Design Classification

Abstract

To follow the article by Gerrit Noodzij (The Journal of Typographic Research, IV [Summer 1970], 213-240) which analyzed the German classification, an account is given of the French and German classifications. It is shown that all three schemes have the same structure though the nomenclature is different. Hope is expressed that the British classification will be acceptable in the United States.
