A Practice in Search of Theory

Abstract

Over the past two years, Visible Language conducted an international survey of design schools in order to determine the kind and vitality of the research effort. This special issue presents the theory, research, and visual experiment that was discovered. The need for developing a theoretical structure, a more integrated approach to research and its impact on design education is explored. The problems associated with these tasks are analyzed.
