Call For Reviewers (due March 15th, 2020)

Focus on German Studies, Vol. 27

Focus on German Studies is currently seeking graduate student book reviewers for its upcoming volume. As a peer-reviewed graduate student journal, Focus has been dedicated to providing an outlet and discussion forum for the work of graduate students. Focus publishes original research articles as well as reviews of newly-released German literature and secondary literature relating to German Studies. Reviewers will ideally have previous coursework and / or research experience in the field they intend to review and are asked to include this information with their request.

It is therefore requested that a reviewer sends along a brief communication outlining the potential reviewers previous experience and knowledge regarding the topic at hand or a current CV with his or her request. Books selected for review have been chosen in an attempt to include many facets of the current scholarship being published under the rubric of German Studies broadly.

Focus on German Studies will be publishing its twenty-seventh volume in summer 2020. For a current list of books available for review, please refer to the following web address:

Focus will also accept suggestions for books and other media to review. We will do our best to acquire a review copy.

Reviews may be in either English or German and must follow MLA conventions, with endnotes and works cited.

  • CFP (Journal): Focus on German Studies, Graduate Student Journal Volume 28, 2020-2021 (Deadline 4 December 2020)

    Focus on German Studies is an annually published journal which features the original scholarship of graduate students.

    We are currently seeking articles for publication for the 28th volume.

    Focus on German Studies casts as broad a net as possible, encouraging publication on all aspects of German Studies to reflect the varied intellectual engagement and research conducted by graduate students. Articles should be 15-25 pages in length and will pass 2 rounds of blind peer review before publication.
     
    SCHEDULE / PROCEEDINGS:
     
    Submit a CV and an abstract of your article (250 words) to Natalie Ford and Kayla Weiglein at fogs.editor@gmail.com by December 4th, 2020. Decisions will be announced by mid-December.
     
    Final articles are due February 1, 2020 and must be double spaced, and MLA formatted.
     
    Estimated Publication Date is August 2021
